Building a data culture
New black gold, raw diamond… many expressions are used to describe data as a precious resource, coveted by many and capable of changing everything. But what exactly is it? What is this object that fascinates as much as it worries? What are the issues and uses? How can we enable individuals to grasp its significance and benefit from it through a data culture open to all?
Join us on April 28th for a wide range programme on data literacy !

INTRODUCTION
in French
Every day, the data of billions of people – including all of us – is collected, stored and processed through algorithms and AI. These processes shape the world through the decisions they make in different sectors: health, transport, education, etc. Therefore, they shape our lives! It is therefore urgent to empower individuals by striving to build a data culture.

Rudi Live: data literacy for a local authority
The implementation of a project or an experimentation around data requires important efforts in terms of awareness and acculturation, both on the side of the city’s agents who are in charge of the implementation and the follow-up of the project, and on the side of the citizens to whom the project is addressed.
But what does data literacy mean for a local authority? What are the challenges and actions at stake?
With Chloé Friedlander – Banque des Territoires, Sylvain Lapoix – Datactivist & Ben Lister – Rennes Métropole.

How to build a MyData literacy
The MyData model advocates a paradigm shift that places control of personal data in the hands of the individuals. A human centered alternative, where each individual is empowered with their personal data in order to derive value from it. But shouldn’t this regaining of control be accompanied by a data literacy initiative, which would enable individuals to better apprehend the stakes and cultivates change in society around the perception of data?
